We are honored to continue to grow and share our mission of social responsibility.

Workbox Staffing, an industrial staffing firm that has been a pillar in the staffing scene in Grand Rapids for over 25 years, was recently honored with a 2023 American Staffing Association Care Award. We have over 20 locations across four States, all of which have contributed to winning this award. This prestigious national award program recognizes outstanding social responsibility initiatives—business processes that produce an overall positive effect on society—among ASA member staffing agencies, associate members, and staffing industry suppliers. This is our second consecutive award, which is awarded on a bi-annual basis.

At Workbox, our drive to give back is a consistent voice at the heart of everything we do. Give-Serve-Connect empowers our team members to make a positive difference in our communities, and we are known as “The Can-Do Crew.” The Can-Do Crew prides itself in creating the change it wants to see in local communities. Social responsibility is at the forefront of everything we do here at Workbox Staffing. Each of our employees dedicates time monthly to being present, working alongside one another, and embracing being a driving force in local neighborhoods. Talk about a morale booster by interacting with members of their community while making a positive difference in people's lives. WOW! We take pride in our community service efforts.

At our core, we believe in improving people’s lives. Having a job gives people a sense of empowerment that ripples through all aspects of their lives, lifting both families and communities. Placing someone in a job is our promise to both our clients and workers and shows that we are invested in everyone’s success. We strive to remove barriers to employment and provide a pathway for people to provide for themselves and their families, not just because it helps them be better workers for our clients, but because it’s the right thing to do. Our entire essence is a full circle of positivity. “Give-Serve-Connect” every day!

When asked why this initiative was so important to personally champion, Heather Shadley, CFO stated, “It was July of 2020, and we were at the height of Covid-19. No one thought it would go on as long as it did. Revenue was down. It was difficult to find applicants and workers, and team members were confused about where we were going and what was going to happen. There was just a lot of instability and uncertainty. I was looking for a way to bring our team together, to give them something bigger than themselves to focus on, and to make a difference in our workers' lives. Thus, Give-Serve-Connect was born.”

We are honored to continue to grow and share our mission of social responsibility, and this recognition only furthers the message we are so passionate about sharing. ASA Care Award honorees will be celebrated at Staffing World-2023 - the largest, most comprehensive learning and networking event in the staffing and recruiting industry.

We are excited to invite you to complete a survey that will reveal which tools employers most desire when recruiting and retaining talent. South Carolina is developing a new statewide education and workforce portal—a centralized platform to help employers connect with talent, training resources, and workforce development partners. Your input is critical in shaping the features of this portal to best meet the needs of businesses like yours. This survey will help us identify the most valuable features for employers and how the portal can complement or enhance your existing tools. Your feedback will directly influence the development and prioritization of key features. The survey is open and will close by EOB on Monday, November 10, 2025 . It should take approximately five (5) minutes to complete. SURVEY CAN BE FOUND HERE: Employer/Industry Association Survey Once you’ve completed the survey, we encourage you to share the link with others who may also be interested in providing feedback.
