The Chamber is pleased to announce that, in partnership with Robert Bosch, LLC, we awarded three scholarships to 2023 graduates

The Chamber is pleased to announce that, in partnership with Robert Bosch, LLC, we awarded two $1,000 renewable scholarships to two 2023 graduating seniors from Dorchester County who will attend a four-year college or university in South Carolina with a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) related major.

The Chamber, in partnership with Robert Bosch, LLC, also awarded a $500 scholarship to a 2023 graduating senior from Dorchester County who will attend an accredited two-year technical college in South Carolina.

Along with Robert Bosch, LLC, these scholarships are made possible through our members who joined the 110% Club and through our 50/50 raffles at the Business After Hours events.

“We are very grateful for our strong partnership with the Summerville Chamber of Commerce. These scholarships are just one way we share the responsibility of building a strong workforce of tomorrow, enabling students to pursue their education, break down barriers, and open doors to a great future. Gracie, Carter, and Jalil, congratulations! We wish you a great start to this new chapter of your life. We are excited to be part of your education journey. Dream big!”

-Doreen Poehlitz, Human Resources Director, Bosch Charleston

Jalil Harris graduated from Ashley Ridge High School where he swam for the varsity swim team all four years.  He also swam in the summer league and year-round since 6th grade. He served as the student body vice president and was voted “class clown” of his graduating class.  He enjoys listening to music and hanging out with friends.  He also loves to go to work and volunteer for various organizations. He plans to attend Clemson University this fall as a member of the Honors College to pursue a Computer Information Systems degree. He hopes to work in the field of cyber security and work for the government in the future.

Carter Cook is a Summerville High School distinguished honor graduate.  In the fall he will attend Clemson University, and he plans to participate in their B.S./M.S. program in Civil Engineering.  While in college, along with focusing on academics, he also wants to assist with at least one research project, pursue internships, belong to a few clubs, play intramural sports and seek volunteer opportunities. After college, Carter hopes to work for an engineering company for a few years and eventually own his own business.  During his career, he wants to work on projects that give back to the community.  He likes being active by working out, playing basketball and soccer.

Gracie Boddorf attended Woodland High School and graduated in the class of 2023. She loves traveling, coffee, food, and learning/trying new things.  She is attending Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College in the fall and will be majoring in nursing.  While in high school, Gracie participated in the Dorchester County Career and Technology Center’s PCT program and participated in clinical at Summerville Medical Center.
