Our Public Policy Division achieves its goals through an active membership that stays on top of legislative issues and economic trends. Chamber leaders participate in government affairs to make sure their members concerns are heard on local, county and state issues.

The Chamber works to educate the public of the value and necessity of business in Summerville and Dorchester County. We are not only concerned with protecting established businesses, but also in supporting new business owners and fostering their growth.

While promoting business is a major goal, the Chamber is fiercely protective of maintaining the way of life that has made Summerville one of the fastest growing cities in SC. It’s important to the Chamber that Summerville is not only a great place to do business, but a great place to live.

We support local public and private schools and colleges in providing a well-trained workforce to area businesses. We also have put ourselves at the forefront of continuing education for our membership in the form of numerous seminars and clinics. We have also established the Leadership Dorchester program to help identify and train our future civic and business leaders.

As much as we believe Summerville is a great place to settle, we also promote Summerville as a great place to visit. The Chamber houses the Visitors Center where over 14,000 people come through each year.
