150th Anniversary of Cummins Memorial Theological Seminary
Founded in 1876, Cummins Memorial is the oldest and only African American Episcopal seminary in North America.

Summerville, SC — Cummins Memorial Theological Seminary will celebrate its 150th anniversary with a yearlong series of public events highlighting the institution's history, campus and ongoing mission. It was founded in 1876, Cummins Memorial is the oldest and only African American Episcopal seminary still in existence in North America. The seminary was established in the years following emancipation to train and ordain ministers to serve newly freed enslaved people
The kick-off event is this Friday, January 30th, 6:30pm, Grace RE Church, 401 Stoney Landing Road, Moncks Corner, SC. Join us as Canon Dr. J. Ronald Moock will share the history of the Reformed Episcopal Church and Cummins Memorial Theological Seminary. Ann McGill with WCSC Channel 5 will host this celebratory event. No admission fee.
Cummins Memorial Theological Seminary, 15oth Anniversary Art Exhibit & Unveiling of the 150th Anniversary Poster designed and signed by, world renowned Gullah artist, Jonathan Green will be on display. Signed poster prints will be available for sale. This event will be Friday, February 6th, 6:30pm, Cummins Campus, 705 S. Main Street, Summerville, SC. No admission fee.
The March event is the Bishop Sanco King Rembert Lecture, Friday, March 20th, 6:30pm, Trinity Anglican Church, 1915 Pinopolis Road, Pinopolis, SC. The Honorable Otis Prioleau, Lector. No admission fee.
