"We are committed to elevating the site design experience through growth and innovation, so it was a natural expansion to add land surveying to our services."

CHARLESTON, S.C. (October 19, 2023) - SeamonWhiteside (SW+), a full-service site design firm with offices throughout the Carolinas, announces the addition of a new Surveying department. With the strategic acquisition of land surveying services, SW+ will enhance its holistic approach to clients' projects, ensuring precision and accuracy from the earliest planning stages to the final execution.

"We are committed to elevating the site design experience through growth and innovation, so it was a natural expansion to add land surveying to our services," says Russ Seamon, President of SeamonWhiteside. "This new department will allow us to create a seamless workflow and higher levels of collaboration between our surveyors and designers, resulting in a better experience for our people and clients. Surveying will also expand synergies between our Innovation and Water Resources departments—we are excited for what’s to come."

Spearheading this new team is Mike Schmieder, PLS who brings over a decade of experience in the land surveying industry. Earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from The Citadel, he began his career as a professional land surveyor for Southeastern Land Surveying, LLC. Over the last ten years, Schmieder has contributed to well-known projects including the Port City Centre Industrial Park, Indigo Square, and Moultrie Middle School.

Schmieder will initiate, grow, and oversee surveying for SW+, first establishing the department in the Lowcountry, and quickly expanding to offer this service to SeamonWhiteside’s additional four offices throughout the Carolinas. Joining Mike’s founding team is Kyle Atwood, SW+ Survey Crew Chief and Jordan Cadiz, SW+ Surveying Field Technician. This new team will tackle front-end surveying from boundary, tree, topographic, and ALTA Survey for Camp Hall, Ferry Wharf, and Port City Centre.

This new Surveying department is another example of how SeamonWhiteside is rapidly growing this year. From developing its first Water Resources team to hiring its first dedicated Director of Marketing, the firm is poised for exponential growth. Each addition brings with it a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, enhancing the breadth of services offered to clients. The continued expansion reflects SeamonWhiteside’s thoughtful approach for each project to deliver work it is proud to stand behind.
