This achievement places the Chamber among an elite group of organizations nationwide. With only 197 chambers holding Accredited status

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has awarded the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce the prestigious 5-Star Accreditation designation in recognition of its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and significant positive impact on the community it serves.

This achievement places the Chamber among an elite group of organizations nationwide. With only 197 chambers holding Accredited status and just a small number achieving the 5-Star level, this designation reflects the highest standard of excellence within the chamber industry.

“Achieving the Accreditation designation is a significant accomplishment that underscores the chamber’s steadfast dedication to its community and its commitment to organizational excellence,” said Raymond P. Towle, U.S. Chamber Vice President, Federation Relations and IOM. “This prestigious recognition places the chamber among the top in the industry, showcasing its exceptional leadership, meaningful contributions, and critical role in driving growth, innovation, and opportunity within the business community.”

The U.S. Chamber’s Accreditation Program sets the benchmark for excellence among chambers of commerce, fostering strong pro-business environments across the country. To earn accreditation, chambers must meet rigorous standards in governance, government affairs, communications, and technology. The process requires an extensive 6–9 month self-review that reflects an organization’s commitment to continuous improvement and measurable progress.

Local chambers may be recognized as Accredited, 3-Star, 4-Star, or 5-Star. The 5-Star status awarded to the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce is the highest honor achievable and is determined by a national Accrediting Board composed of U.S. Chamber board members and chamber CEOs from across the country.

Earning this distinguished designation reinforces the Chamber’s commitment to excellence and its role as a trusted resource for the business community. It represents a promise to continue fostering growth, innovation, and opportunity for local businesses while advancing the economic vitality of Summerville and Dorchester County.

As the Chamber looks ahead, this recognition further strengthens its mission to support local businesses, champion strategic initiatives, and lead the region toward a bright and prosperous future.
