This outdoor transformation will be a game-changer!

Leadership Dorchester Class of 2025 is proud to announce our class project in partnership with Beyond BASIC, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals with intellectual disabilities achieve fulfillment beyond the basics through the development of independent living skills.

Our project will focus on transforming Beyond BASIC’s backyard and side yard into a safe, inclusive, and enriching outdoor learning environment. Key elements of the renovation include:

● A multi-use shade pavilion designed for social and sensory engagement

● A wheelchair-accessible activity loop and upgraded walkways

● A living vertical wall featuring herbs and edible plants for hands-on learning opportunities

● Recreational and enrichment spaces equipped with accessible sports equipment

To bring this vision to life, we are seeking public and business partnerships through:

● In-kind donations of construction and landscaping materials such as concrete, pavers, sun shades, benches, gravel, sports and activity equipment, vegetable starts, herbs, and more

● Volunteer labor from local contractors and skilled professionals

● Financial sponsorships ranging from $500 to $5,000, with unique brand recognition opportunities, including named pavers, mentions in press releases, and other promotional

acknowledgments

“We are thrilled to once again partner with Leadership Dorchester!” said Ashton Johnson,

Co-founder of Beyond BASIC. “Their commitment to meaningful, community-driven projects perfectly aligns with our

mission at Beyond BASIC. The energy, passion, and dedication they bring not only inspire us but also create a lasting impact for our teammates.”

The transformation of Beyond BASIC’s outdoor area will significantly enhance the day-to-day experience for the individuals they serve.

“This outdoor transformation will be a game-changer for our teammates,” the Beyond BASIC team shared. “Many of them thrive in sensory-friendly, open-air environments, and having a safe, welcoming, and engaging outdoor space will allow for more movement, socialization, and therapeutic activities. It’s more than a facelift—it’s a space where friendships will grow, confidence will build, and life skills will be strengthened.”

Your support will directly contribute to creating an accessible, inclusive space where individuals can learn, grow, and thrive.
