The Town of Summerville is accepting applications to fill the terms that are expiring in December 2021.

The Mayor and Council of the Town of Summerville are accepting applications to fill the terms that are expiring in December 2021 on the following Citizen Committees, Boards, and Commissions.


 Board of Architectural Review:  2 seats 

1 – At large, must live in the official Historic District of Summerville

1 – Must be a member of a Town‐approved arts community organization


Planning Commission: 4 seats (all at large)


Design Review Board:  2 seats

1 – Landscape Architect, Landscape Designer, or Urban Designer

1 – Commercial Real Estate Agent, Commercial Appraiser, or Private Planning Consultant 


Municipal Election Commission:  1 seat (at large)


Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee: 3 seats (all at large)


State Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee:  2 seats 

1 – Must work in the hospitality industry

1 – Must be a member of a cultural interest organization in the Town


Tree Protection Committee:  3 seats

1 – certified arborist

1 – at large (knowledgeable about forestry and horticultural matters)

1 – at large (knowledgeable about forestry and horticultural matters) 


You must either be a resident within the corporate limits of the town, be the owner of real property located within the corporate limits of the town, or be appointed by a unanimous vote of the Council to serve.   These positions require someone who has demonstrated civic interest, general knowledge of the community, independent judgment, and availability to prepare for and attend meetings.
