Navigating employment issues in 2022

The Great Resignation: What Can Employers Do to Survive?


This session will discuss “The Great Resignation,” the phenomenon in 2021 and continuing in 2022 where employees are quitting their jobs en masse. What are the causes? What can employer do to counteract this trend? What are the long-term ramifications? This Wednesday  Workshop is being taught by Sharon L. Sellers, President and Founder of SLS Consulting, LLC, a human resources service and training firm.


The objectives of this session are as follows:

1.   Attendees will understand the impact of The Great Resignation on employers throughout the U.S.

2.   Attendees will discuss the demographics of those who resigned from their position and review how the COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected these demographics.

3.   Attendees will learn to address the causes of The Big Quit and determine what their organizations can do to counteract this trend.

4.   Looking through a different lens: Attendees will also discuss how The Great Resignation will affect the future of staffing, sourcing, and recruitment as well as managing a remote workforce.


The Wednesday Workshop classes are 8 am until  10 am at the Chamber in Summerville.

The cost is $15 members per class or $25 for prospective members per class.

Upcoming classes include:


Traditional Media (May 11)

-In this class participants will learn how to best draft a press release; what are the basic, essential elements to include; and to whom the media release should be sent. 

-The participants will leave with a custom template to use in the future for any media pitching they want to do along with a list of media contacts that are best suited to receive press releases. 

-Participants will learn what makes a great pitch and how to speak on camera.

-Best practices for your business’s financial health



Sharon L. Sellers is President and Founder of SLS Consulting, LLC, a human resources service and training firm established in 2004. SLS supports employers of all sizes in meeting their U.S. employee challenges. She has over 30 years’ senior HR experience and for 12 years taught HR certification courses at Trident Technical College. She has been active in SHRM, holding positions as a Chapter President (Charleston), SC SHRM State Director, and National SHRM Membership Advisory Council for the Southeast. Sharon has been quoted as a subject matter expert in national media, such as the Wall St. Journal, NPR’s All Things Considered, and the Chicago Tribune, regarding harassment and respect issues. She also testified before the EEOC regarding harassment and retaliation in the workplace and has presented testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives.
