Teachers of the Year honored at Holiday Breakfast

More than 40 educators were honored at the event from both Dorchester School District 2 and Dorchester School District 4.

The Teachers of the Year in Dorchester County were honored with a special holiday breakfast at Knightsville United Methodist Church in Summerville on Friday, December 10.

The Teachers of the Year Holiday Breakfast was put on by the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce and powered by REV Federal Credit Union.

More than 40 educators were honored at the event from both Dorchester School District 2 and Dorchester School District 4.

The honorees that are recognized at the breakfast are the Teacher of the Year from their individual elementary, middle, and high schools plus a school district-wide teacher of the year. A rookie teacher of the year was also honored at the breakfast Friday morning.

"We recognized these teachers for their hard work and investment in the future of our community," Rita Berry, President of the Chamber, said. "We know these teachers are shaping students to become our future leaders."

An ensemble from the Summerville Orchestra also played holiday music for the event.

The Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce thanks the teachers of Dorchester County for their assiduous efforts to teach, love, encourage, and nurture the children of Dorchester County.

In times of great difficulty, our teachers have shown us what it means to be industrious and courageous. These heroes have demonstrated great resolve. And they are leaving a massive wake all around them.  Their work in the classroom has provided all of us with the much needed sense of normalcy, community, and personal connection.

We thanked our teachers publicly at the Holiday Breakfast, but we honor them always.
