Expanding Breast Health and Mammography Services for Growing Lowcountry Community

Summerville, SC (June 22, 2021) – Summerville Medical Center is proud to announce that the Summerville Breast Center is now open and serving patients. It joins Trident Health system’s sister facilities, Trident Breast Center and Moncks Corner Medical Center, to provide comprehensive breast health and mammography for women across the Lowcountry.

The Summerville Breast Center is conveniently located across from Summerville Medical Center at 77 Springview Lane. It was designed with women in mind and offers an intimate, boutique atmosphere with special robes, aromatherapy, private parking and other amenities that pamper women.

“Today marks a major milestone for Summerville Medical Center and the care we provide women in our communities,” said Theresa Kloewer, MSN, RN, CENP, and Chief Nursing Officer at Summerville Medical Center. “For almost 30 years we have had the privilege of supporting women in key moments throughout her life. The Summerville Breast Center improves the access women have to breast health services and provides those services in a welcoming environment that will put women at ease.”

The Summerville Breast Center features:

• Full breast imaging services including screening and diagnostic mammography, bone density testing, breast biopsies, and breast ultrasounds

• State-of-the-art 3D mammography equipment that detects smaller cancers and masses much earlier than 2D mammography

• Clinic space for fellowship-trained breast surgeon, Dr. Autumn Shobe

• Greater access to minimally invasive diagnostic and surgical procedures

• Easy access to parking

• 4,800 square feet of patient care space

Breast surgeon Dr. Autumn Shobe with Breast Surgery Specialists has opened a clinic in the Summerville Breast Center to treat women who receive a breast cancer diagnosis. From the initial mammogram and breast cancer diagnosis through her breast cancer journey, a woman will receive all the care she needs in one location at the Summerville Breast Center.

“By providing women across the Lowcountry with a breast center like this one, we are listening to what the women in our community want and need – compassion, understanding and outstanding care,” said breast surgeon Dr. Autumn Shobe. “It is truly inspirational every day to support women and their breast health over the course of their lifetime.”

The Summerville Breast Center is the third breast center for Trident Health, joining Trident Breast Center located at Trident Medical Center and Moncks Corner Medical Center located at Moncks Corner Medical Center. Trident Health performed more than 25,000 screening and diagnostic mammograms in 2020.

Summerville Medical Center is a 124-bed, acute-care hospital with a 24-hour emergency room, a dedicated ER for children, and comprehensive medical services.
