MONCKS CORNER, SC August 27, 2026 — Home Telecom is excited to announce they have donated a park bench, recently installed along the Sawmill Branch Trail in the Summerville community.

The sponsorship is in partnership with Bike Walk Summerville to provide more resting spots along the trail. Many residents enjoy experiencing South Carolina’s natural outdoor beauty while taking a walk or bike ride through nature, but they may need frequent places to stop and rest along the way.

“The Sawmill Branch Trail is a tremendous asset for our community, but not everyone can walk or bike long distances without needing a place to rest,” said Gina Shuler, Vice President of Marketing for Home Telecom. “By donating a bench along the trail, we are helping make it more accessible and enjoyable for residents and visitors of all ages, especially older adults who may benefit from an opportunity to pause and recharge.

"Projects like this are Home Telecom’s way of saying ‘thank you’ to our customers and it reflects our commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the communities we serve.”

The nonprofit Bike Walk Summerville, who advocates for safer active transportation options within the greater Summerville area, says investment in the trail brings to life their vision for making walking and biking a viable means of transportation in Summerville.

The organization sees the area as a place where people of all ages have access to school, jobs and medical appointments, as well as to local businesses and shopping via the walk/bike trails. It helps cut down on traffic and pollution and improves infrastructure.

Christopher McClure, Executive Director of Bike Walk Summerville said, "With the generous investment provided by Home Telecom and the program provided by the Town of Summerville Parks & Recreation, we can celebrate taking one step closer to our vision of a Summerville where anyone can ride a bike or walk safely, no matter their age or ability."
