These students have demonstrated exceptional dedication to academics, leadership, and service as they prepare for bright futures.

The Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize five outstanding students as recipients of the 2026 Scholarships.

These students have demonstrated exceptional dedication to academics, leadership, and service as they prepare for bright futures in higher education and beyond. This year's scholarship recipients represent schools across Dorchester County and will pursue a variety of educational paths, from engineering and biological sciences to veterinary medicine and social sciences.

Recipients include Kai Bergmann, Kacie Truluck, Clairetha Grant, Hayden Folk, and Lyla Owens.

Kai Bergmann is a Fort Dorchester High School graduate and will attend the University of South Carolina this fall, where she plans to study Industrial Engineering. She completed high school with a 5.23 weighted GPA and a 4.0 unweighted GPA. Throughout her high school career, Kai demonstrated excellence both in and out of the classroom, earning a varsity letter in swimming each year from 2020 to 2025. She was also a Mock Trial Regional Champion, an Honor Roll student, and was recognized as Student of the Month in October 2020.

Kacie Truluck (photographed above) is an Ashley Ridge High School graduate and will attend Clemson University this fall to pursue a degree in Veterinary Sciences, with plans to continue her education and earn a doctorate in veterinary medicine. Kacie graduated with a 5.316 weighted GPA and a 4.0 unweighted GPA. Her accomplishments include membership in the Science and Math National Honor Societies, earning an academic letter, participating in band, and dedicating 7 years to equestrian activities.

Clairetha Grant graduated a semester early from Ashley Ridge High School and is continuing her education at Trident Technical College, where she is pursuing studies in behavioral and social sciences. Her early graduation reflects her dedication, determination, and commitment to academic success. An avid reader and writer, Clairetha especially enjoys writing poetry and looks forward to applying her creativity and passion for understanding people as she builds a strong foundation in her field and prepares to make a positive impact through her future career.

Hayden Folk is a Summerville High School graduate and will attend the University of South Carolina this fall, where he plans to major in Political Science with a minor in International Studies. Throughout high school, Hayden demonstrated strong leadership and community involvement as a member of the National Honor Society, Sophomore Class President, the Charleston Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Eagle Scout program.

Lyla Owens is a Dorchester Academy graduate and will attend Clemson University this fall to study Biological Sciences. In addition to her academic success, Lyla was actively involved in school leadership and extracurricular activities, serving as Captain of the Varsity Cheer Team, President of the Fellowship of Christian Students, Treasurer of the Senior Class, and a Junior Marshal for the Class of 2025. Her dedication to both scholarship and service has made her a standout student and leader.

In addition to their academic achievements, these students have distinguished themselves through leadership roles, extracurricular involvement, athletics, community service, and a commitment to personal growth. The Chamber is honored to support the next generation of innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders through the STEM Scholarship program. Congratulations to our 2026 recipients, and best wishes as they begin this exciting new chapter!
