Three students will receive scholarship assistance

(Summerville, SC) - In partnership with Robert Bosch, LLC, the Chamber awards two $1,000 renewable scholarships to graduating seniors and a $500 technical scholarship annually in Dorchester County. Bosch, a leading industry in the region, has been a significant community presence for 50 years.

There were 24 STEM applications and four technical applications, making the selection process quite challenging.

On June 18, during the Chamber Board Meeting, Melissa Wright, Chair of the Education and Workforce Development Division and member of the scholarship committee, proudly announced this year's scholarship recipients.

The $1,000 renewable scholarships are awarded to Jacob Zahn and Krystal Judy.

Jacob Zahn, an honors graduate from Summerville High School, will study Molecular Biology at the University of South Carolina Honors College. He graduated with an associate degree from Trident Technical College and stayed on the Dean’s List while simultaneusly working part-time at Chick-fil-A. He completed high school with an impressive 5.294 GPA and was ranked number six out of 681 students.

Krystal Judy, from Reevesville, and a graduate of Dorchester Academy, will major in Nursing at the University of South Carolina.  Krystal received multiple recognitions including an academic letter for maintaining a 4.7 GPA in her junior and senior year.  She was also a part of the North/South all-star team for basketball and the all-region teams for softball and volleyball. Krystal loves volunteering and spent last summer volunteering at Camp Woodie. This past January, she coordinated a Red Cross blood drive and collected the largest blood donations to date.

The $500 technical scholarship goes to Emily Marchant from Woodlands High School.

Emily is a Woodlands High School graduate who will major in Veterinary Technology at Tri-County Technical College.  Emily received a Veterinarian Assistant certification from Dorchester County Career and Technology.  She also won a Student of the Quarter award at the Career School.  Emily participated in many extracurricular activities including Future Farmers of America, softball, and soccer.  She worked for Santee Animal Clinic as a work-based learning student and has spent many hours caring for animals.

Congratulations to all the scholarship recipients for their outstanding achievements!
