SUMMERVILLE, SC - The Dorchester Heritage Center is excited to announce its upcoming Discovery Series event, featuring a captivating evening with Martha Zierden, the esteemed Curator of Historical Archaeology at The Charleston Museum. Hear the history of Dorchester County from an archaeological point of view.


Join us on August 10, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce, located at 402 North Main Street, for an enlightening experience with one of Charleston's foremost experts in historical archaeology


.This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Seating is limited


.Martha Zierden's impressive career spans over four decades, with her tenure as Curator of Historical Archaeology at The Charleston Museum commencing in 1981. Throughout her career, Martha has been extensively involved in archaeological research and has conducted excavations at numerous significant sites in Charleston and the surrounding lowcountry. Her work has offered invaluable insights into the hidden corners and rich history of some of Charleston's most iconic properties, delving into the depths of basements and backyards to unravel compelling stories from the past
