Trident Medical Center is proud to announce the upcoming opening of its state-of-the-art freestanding facility dedicated to supporting residents in need of mental health services. Live Oak Mental Health & Wellness is a 60-bed hospital that’ll provide both inpatient and outpatient services.  It will be South Carolina’s first new mental health hospital in more than 30 years.  The new facility is located at 3445 Ingleside Blvd., Ladson, SC 29456 - about two miles from Trident Medical Center.

Live Oak has been designed with a focus on engaging architecture, patient comfort, and comprehensive care, reflecting Trident Medical Center’s commitment to improving mental health services for the community. The facility boasts a range of exciting features, services, and plans for future expansion, promising to transform the landscape of mental healthcare.

One of the standout features of Trident's new mental health facility is its engaging architecture, purposefully designed to promote a healing and soothing environment. Every aspect of the facility's layout and design has been meticulously planned to optimize patient well-being and comfort. From natural lighting to calming color schemes, the architecture supports a positive atmosphere that aids in communication with providers.

Trident Medical Center’s mental health facility includes several amenities aimed at enhancing patient experiences. The day room offers a comfortable and welcoming space for patients to relax, socialize, and engage in therapeutic activities. Additionally, the courtyard provides a serene outdoor area where patients can enjoy fresh air, connect with nature, and find solace during their journey.

Comprehensive Services for All Ages:

The new facility is committed to serving individuals across various age groups, including adults and children between the ages of 12 and 17. Trident Medical Center recognizes the importance of tailoring mental health services to meet the unique needs of each age group, offering specialized programs and treatments for adolescents and adults.

With an initial capacity of 60 inpatient beds, the facility can accommodate individuals who require round-the-clock care in a supportive environment. Simultaneously, the outpatient services will cater to 35 patients daily, with plans to expand to 45 daily outpatient visitors in the near future. This range of services allows psychiatrists and other clinicians at Live Oak Mental Health & Wellness to provide a continuum of care, ensuring that patients receive the most appropriate treatment based on their needs.

A primary objective of Trident Medical Center is to improve access to mental health care for the community. By expanding their capacity and offering both inpatient and outpatient services at Live Oak Mental Health & Wellness, wait times for mental health services will be improved, which means timely, and much-needed care can be provided. The facility's strategic location ensures convenient accessibility for residents in the surrounding area, further contributing to improved access to care.

A ceremonial ribbon cutting is set for June 5, 2023, 10:30 am - 11:30 am.
