In the past seven years, the Hearts for the Lowcountry golf tournament has raised more than $300,000 in support of the American Heart Association

Charleston, SC (August 19, 2022) – Trident Health will be hosting the 8th annual Hearts for the Lowcountry charity golf tournament on Friday, September 23rd at the Golf Club at Wescott Plantation. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the American Heart Association to provide heart and stroke resources for communities across the Lowcountry.

In the past seven years, the Hearts for the Lowcountry golf tournament has raised more than $300,000 in support of the American Heart Association’s mission to raise awareness about the risks of heart disease and help our community live longer, healthier lives. Heart disease is the #1 leading cause of death in the United States.

After a heart event, living an active life with regular exercise, healthy eating and quitting smoking are the top recommendations from Trident Health’s cardiology team.

Cardiologist Marabel Schneider, MD with Lowcountry Cardiology said, “One of the encouraging stories regarding patients who’ve recovered from a heart attack is that many are now enjoying active, productive lives.” Cardiovascular surgeon James Benner, MD with Palmetto Cardiovascular & Thoracic Associates commented, “Adding exercise to your heart healthy plan can be as simple as a regular brisk walk.”

Interventional cardiologist Patrick Looser, MD, with Lowcountry Cardiology Associates added,” "If you smoke, please stop. Your heart will thank you. In just minutes after your last cigarette your heart rate and blood pressure drop significantly.“

The Hearts for the Lowcountry golf tournament will begin with lunch at 11am followed by a shotgun start at 12pm. The event will include prizes for the top teams, closest to the pin contest, longest drive contest and more. The $125 per player or $500 foursome cost includes cart and greens fees, player gifts, lunch, and a post-tournament awards ceremony. The tournament is rain or shine.

We are excited to invite you to complete a survey that will reveal which tools employers most desire when recruiting and retaining talent. South Carolina is developing a new statewide education and workforce portal—a centralized platform to help employers connect with talent, training resources, and workforce development partners. Your input is critical in shaping the features of this portal to best meet the needs of businesses like yours. This survey will help us identify the most valuable features for employers and how the portal can complement or enhance your existing tools. Your feedback will directly influence the development and prioritization of key features. The survey is open and will close by EOB on Monday, November 10, 2025 . It should take approximately five (5) minutes to complete. SURVEY CAN BE FOUND HERE: Employer/Industry Association Survey Once you’ve completed the survey, we encourage you to share the link with others who may also be interested in providing feedback.
