Celebrated!  Now, do March with them!!

Nucor Steel Berkeley, Sanders Brothers Construction, and Trident RECAB/RWA hosted school counselors in Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties for School Counselor Day 2026.  School Counselors joined together in February 2026 at Trident Technical College to talk with local employers of SC Manufacturers and Commerce, Boeing SC, Sanders Brothers Construction, Volvo, FBI, and Nucor Steel Berkeley.  School Counselors also analyzed the 14 newly revised career clusters to be launched in the fall, reviewed leadership skills, and learned about AI, cybersecurity, and the maritime industry.

School counselors also discussed how their typical workday has transformed over the years and indicated that those in attendance had served 20,000 to 80,000 students over their school counseling careers.  Finally, the counseling leaders voiced that they seek strategic partnerships, and that local industry leaders can be their career guide or bank of career skills currency to collect and share with students and parents!

School counselors are on the front lines, guiding students through academic, social, and emotional challenges while being asked to provide vital career exploration and planning services. However, they cannot do it alone. School counselors need the support of our business community to bridge the gap between education lessons and industry work roles.

Yes, connect your organization’s expertise with our local school counselors!

Note best practices below:

*Celebrate with a social post about or a quick message to the school counselors in your network

*Help school counselors identify which of the new 14 career clusters your company aligns with for the next school year

*Host a career lunch & learn for school counselors

*Host the regional school counselor kickoff in Fall 2026

Also, note the upcoming events in which local industry leaders can add a work-world perspective:

  • Trades Summit, March 11-12, 2026, Charleston, SC
  • STEM Fest, March 14, 2026, Summerville, SC
  • Law After Woodland (L.A.W.) Summit, March 27, 2026.Dorchester, SC
  • VIRTUAL Career Talk March 2026, St. Stephen, SC

Walk alongside our school counselors and aid them in finishing the school year strong by meeting their "enterprise goals."
