Trident Hospital, Summerville Hospital, Colleton Hospital, and Live Oak Mental Health and Wellness Come Together Under HCA Healthcare Name

CHARLESTON, SC, October 14, 2025 — To reflect our ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional

patient experiences, HCA Healthcare’s South Atlantic Division is rebranding 35+ sites of care in the

Charleston, South Carolina area.

While these facilities have been part of the HCA Healthcare family for decades, the new names will make

it easier for patients to recognize how they are connected to each other.

  • Trident Medical Center becomes HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital
  • Summerville Medical Center becomes HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital
  • Colleton Medical Center becomes HCA Healthcare Colleton Hospital
  • Live Oak Mental Health and Wellness becomes HCA Healthcare Live Oak Mental Health and Wellness
  • Brighton Park Emergency becomes HCA Healthcare Brighton Park ER
  • Centre Pointe Emergency becomes HCA Healthcare Centre Pointe ER
  • Moncks Corner Medical Center becomes HCA Healthcare Moncks Corner ER
  • James Island Emergency becomes HCA Healthcare James Island ER

Physician practices and outpatient centers will take the new brand in January.

“By consolidating under the HCA Healthcare name, we’re reinforcing our collective commitment to the

communities we serve,” said Hugh Tappan, President of HCA Healthcare’s South Atlantic Division. “For

50 years, our teams have served the people of Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester, and Colleton Counties.

We remain deeply rooted locally, while benefiting from the strength and capabilities of our broader

system.”

One Name. One Team. One Future.

These hospitals have long served their local communities with pride. Now, as part of one unified system,

they will grow stronger together—with a continued focus on excellence, innovation, and compassionate

care.

“This renaming symbolizes more than a change in signage—it represents a united approach to care,”

said Jeff Wilson, CEO of HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital. “Together, we’re growing as one

organization, one team, and one commitment to those we serve.”

  • Integrated Patient Care Network: Backed by the strength and scale of HCA Healthcare, we’re connected to more resources, more solutions, and more possibilities for everyone who walks through our doors.
  • Investment in key areas: We’re improving more lives in more ways by adding new services and bringing care closer to our friends and neighbors. In the last six years, HCA Healthcare has invested more than $525 million on capital projects in the Lowcountry.
  • Learning Healthcare System: We have the ability through HCA Healthcare to leverage insights from over 44 million annual patient encounters to aid in developing technologies and best practices that improve patient care nationwide.

“We are embracing a future where we grow stronger together,” said Colin O’Sullivan, CEO of HCA

Healthcare Colleton Hospital. “These new names are a reflection of how we are coming together in

purpose, teamwork, and commitment to those who count on us every day.”

What This Means for Patients

While the names are evolving, the great care remains the same. Patients can continue to access care

and support just as they always have:

  • Same doctors, nurses, and care teams patients know and trust
  • All services, doctors, care teams, and insurance plans remain unchanged
  • No changes to services or locations
  • Contact information, visits, and appointments remain seamless—patients can continue using existing phone numbers and patient portals

“Our patients and colleagues are the heart of what we do,” said Stephen Chandler, CEO of HCA

Healthcare Summerville Hospital. “With our new HCA Healthcare identity, we’re visually showing the

enhanced resources we provide while staying as connected and committed to our neighborhoods as

ever.”

HCA Healthcare Live Oak Mental Health and Wellness CEO, David Herrington said, "HCA Healthcare is

one of the nation's leading providers of mental health services. Through HCA, our physicians and

clinicians are part of a national network of providers, who are able to affect positive change quickly in

their local communities. This is an important benefit to our patients in the Charleston region."
