Dorchester Habitat for Humanity, Inc. is pleased to announce Phillip Wilson as its new Chair of the Board of Directors.

Dorchester Habitat for Humanity, Inc. is pleased to announce Phillip Wilson as its new Chair of

the Board of Directors beginning July 1st for the upcoming fiscal year. Phillip brings a wealth of

of experience as a part of the commercial banking team at pinnacle financial partners and an Associate

Pastor of St. Andrew’s Church in Park Circle. President and CEO of Dorchester Habitat for

Humanity, Jaye Jones Elliott, is excited to see what Phillip will bring to the board as chair.

“I am honored to serve with Phillip and thrilled that he has committed his skills, expertise, and

passion to the issue of affordable housing and leading our Board of Directors,” she said. “Having

volunteered with Dorchester Habitat for Humanity for a number of years, Phillip has a deep

understanding and passion for our Mission of “Putting God’s Love Into Action by Bringing

People Together Building Homes and Hope.””

A member of the Summerville Rotary Club, Phillip is actively involved in the community he

serves.

“As board chair, I am most excited about working diligently to make affordable housing not just

a continued priority for Dorchester Habitat, but to see this become a priority for our local

leaders in the towns and county we serve,” Phillip said.

This year Dorchester Habitat for Humanity is celebrating 30 years of building affordable housing

in Dorchester County by planning to build its 80th home in Summerville in partnership with a

hardworking family. In the 2021/2022 fiscal year, Dorchester Habitat’s ReStore on Greyback

Road in Summerville was the highest sales producing ReStore in South Carolina thanks to

donations of furniture, building supplies, appliances, and gently used household goods from

community members and local businesses. Phillip hopes to compound on that success by

generating more support to build homes in partnership with those in need of a decent and

affordable place to live.

“My hope is that as we enter into a new fiscal year and a challenging economic environment,

that we as leaders can gather around tables to have discussions on how to best serve the

housing needs of those who live in our communities.” Phillip said.

Phillip succeeds Brent Tatum (Edward Jones) as Chair. Tatum will continue to serve on the

Board and Executive Team as Immediate Past Chair. Phillip’s term leading the Board will include

two new members: Tim Lengen (Ryan Homes); and Aaron Schmitt (SeamonWhiteside).
