Celebrating Industry & Workforce at Our Signature Luncheon

Rebecca Collett • September 8, 2025

Honoring hardworking individuals across the county.

Last Thursday, business and community leaders gathered at the Lowcountry Conference Center for our Industry & Workforce Appreciation Luncheon, presented by TD Bank and hosted in partnership with Dorchester County Economic Development. This annual signature event is designed to celebrate the hardworking people who power our local industries while sparking meaningful conversations around workforce challenges and opportunities.

Spotlight on Workforce & Talent

The luncheon shed a light on one of the most pressing issues facing employers today: attracting, supporting, and retaining great talent. Through a dynamic panel discussion, attendees gained fresh insights into the workforce landscape and walked away with practical strategies they can put into action right away.

Our outstanding panel included:

  • Taylor Weyl, SHRM-CP, Director of HR, Sportsman Boats

  • Torre Mason, Senior Manager, Multi-Unit People Partner, Walmart Distribution Center

  • Heather Grier, Division Director of Talent Acquisition, HCA Healthcare

  • Moderated by Miranda Craig, Regional Vice President, South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership

We also extend a special thank you to Jacki Renegar, Senior Director of Research & Business Intelligence at the Charleston Regional Development Alliance (CRDA), for sharing a valuable snapshot of the Compensation & Benefits Practices Report, which provided a data-driven look at trends shaping our region.
