Businesses needed to share experiences with students

Robyn Mixon, the freshman special education teacher at Woodland High School, has reimagined the typical career fair to engage more businesses and students’ families.

Through a partnership with the Carolina Family Engagement Center Ms. Mixon is looking for ways to bridge the gap between the educational environment and students' homes by inviting families to engage in an upcoming career fair via Zoom.

As part of the upcoming Career Week at the high school, speakers will be able to share their experiences, expertise, and answer questions via Zoom with students on Tuesday, April 26 between 9:00a and 12:00a. Each business will be able to sign up for a slot of time to speak with students through the video chat platform. Parents will also be able to watch the recordings with their children after school.

“My goal is to encourage and motivate students to continuously work towards their established career goals - academically and beyond,” Ms. Mixon explained.

Businesses willing to participate should contact Ms. Mixon via email or phone at:  [email protected] or phone (843) 860-4230.
