The college offers certificate, diploma and associate degree programs ranging in length from a few weeks to two years.

July 27, 2023 … Trident Technical College will offer tuition-free enrollment to eligible South Carolina residents for both fall semester 2023 and spring semester 2024, covering all the college’s 150-plus programs of study.

The free tuition initiative is part of the college’s continuing commitment to make higher education accessible to all area residents. This is the second year the college has offered tuition-free enrollment for all its programs. Trident Tech President Mary Thornley said it could be the last.  “Unless we secure additional funding, this will be the last year we can offer tuition-free enrollment across all our programs,” said Thornley. “Of course, we are dedicated to keeping our programs affordable and accessible, but this level of financial assistance may not be available again. After spring 2024, we will continue to be low cost but not all programs will be no cost.”

The college offers certificate, diploma, and associate degree programs ranging in length from a few weeks to two years. Many programs can be completed in a year or less, giving students the ability to gain in-demand skills and enter the workforce quickly. The college has five campuses in the area, including the Dorchester Campus located at 10055 Dorchester Road in Summerville.

To be eligible for tuition-free enrollment, both new and current students must be South Carolina residents and complete a 2023-24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid. New students and those who have not been enrolled in the last three semesters must also submit a college admission application. Other eligibility requirements may vary depending on the type of state aid awarded. Once federal and state grants and scholarships have been applied, the college will waive any remaining tuition, registration, and course fees. Eligible students can attend either full or part-time.

The college offers several terms during each semester. The first fall semester classes begin Aug. 21. For more information visit www.tridenttech.edu or call 843-574-6111.
