Summerville Chamber and REV Federal Credit Union Present $7,000 Donation to Local Nonprofits in Need

Proceeds were raised during the Chamber’s Nonprofit Percent Day held in October

The Summerville Chamber’s Nonprofit Percent Day powered by REV Federal Credit Union was a win-win-win for Summerville area restaurants, shops and nonprofits. An idea born in a virtual Chamber Nonprofit Council meeting, the event encouraged foot traffic to participating restaurants and shops that then gave ten percent back to participating Chamber nonprofits. The goal was to give an economic boost to those businesses and nonprofits struggling amidst the pandemic. 


The October 3rd event raised $3,435.99 for a total of fifteen local Chamber member nonprofits. When REV Federal Credit Union’s President Jason Lee presented the check, he announced that REV would be matching the funds raised to round out to a $7,000 donation. 


“At REV, we’re passionate about empowering the communities we serve and supporting fellow local businesses. This opportunity was a natural fit for us, and we’re proud to make a positive impact for area nonprofits,” commented REV President, Jason Lee. 


Also in attendance for the check presentation were Chamber President/CEO Rita Berry and Chamber Nonprofit Council Director Megan Severn. 


“We are grateful for such a supportive community,” said Megan Severn, director of development and communications for The Ark, Alzheimer’s Family Support Services, and Chamber Nonprofit Council director. “During this time of uncertainty, our local nonprofit organizations have had to postpone or cancel their fundraising events, causing financial stress and for some a loss of service to those in need. This event and the generous donation of REV Federal Credit Union is truly a blessing to those organizations.”
