Kelly M. Alfreds began her career at Steinberg Law Firm 17 years ago, initially serving as a paralegal. Her early experience at the firm kindled a deep-seated passion for law, particularly in the areas of workers’ compensation and personal injury cases. Observing the firm’s impactful work on the lives of South Carolinians, Kelly was inspired to further her career in the legal field.


Driven by her commitment to justice and client advocacy, Kelly pursued a Juris Doctorate at Charleston School of Law, graduating Cum Laude in 2014. Since then, her contributions as an attorney have been invaluable, embodying the firm’s ethos of providing unwavering support and legal counsel to those in need.

A native of Summerville, South Carolina, Kelly has made significant contributions both in and outside the courtroom. Her dedication has been recognized by various prestigious organizations in the legal industry. Kelly’s accolades include being named to Best Lawyers in America for Workers’ Compensation Law-Claimants (2021-2024), being selected as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers (2021-2023), and receiving the Lawyers of Distinction award in 2022.


Beyond her legal practice, Kelly is an active member of the Charleston County Bar Association, Dorchester County Bar Association, and the South Carolina Bar Association. She notably serves as the Lowcountry Representative of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association.


Her community involvement extends to serving on the Board of Directors of the Summerville Chamber of Commerce and as chair of the Leadership Dorchester Alumni Council. Additionally, Kelly contributes to The Dorchester Children’s Advocacy Center as a board member, aiding in the organization’s mission to support abused and neglected children.

Kelly resides in Summerville with her husband, son, and their beloved French bulldog, symbolizing her deep-rooted connection to the community she serves.
