Students from Dorchester Two received Soft Skills training.

(SUMMERVILLE, SC) - The Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Dorchester School District 2, hosted a soft skills training event for high school students in grades 10 through 12.

All three high schools in Dorchester 2 were represented with around 30 students from each school. They met with business partners from Trident Technical College on Dorchester Road on Tuesday, February 27, to strengthen their soft skills in preparation for entering the business world. They learned how to present themselves in an interview, how to market their strengths, and about etiquette in the workplace.  They also talked about different personality types they may encounter in the workforce.

Rita Berry, President and CEO of the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce, said. “By investing in our students today, we're laying the foundation for a skilled and confident future workforce.”

“This collaboration underscores our shared commitment to nurturing the talents of our students and building a robust future workforce,” Berry said.

The event ended with a working lunch where students had the opportunity to network with business partners, allowing them to practice their new skills.

Special thanks to Trident Technical College and Dorchester School District Two for this collaboration! And a huge thank you to Dorchester County Economic Development for providing lunch. Our speakers volunteers from KION, Eggs Up Grill, Trident Technical College, and On Purpose Adventures.
