Nexton Update 2023: A Thriving Community Focused on Growth and Quality of Life

Nexton is one of South Carolina's most dynamic and forward-thinking communities. Sponsored by Home Telecom, our Power Hour gave us a glimpse into what’s happening and what is to come at the massive planned community.

Housing Options for Every Lifestyle

Nexton understands the importance of offering housing options that cater to a wide range of homebuyers. In particular, the community has observed a significant increase in the number of single, professional females seeking homes. To accommodate this growing demographic, Nexton is committed to providing a variety of housing options at different price points.

Exciting Developments in Nexton

Brighton Park Village, a vibrant neighborhood within Nexton, has reached full capacity and all available homes have been sold. Del Webb, another prominent residential area, is expanding with an additional 500 units. These developments reflect Nexton's dedication to meeting the demand for quality homes in a welcoming community.

Prioritizing Resident Experience

Nexton places great importance on ensuring an exceptional living experience for its residents. With a focus on stormwater management and meticulous planning, the community strives to create an environment where residents can thrive. Planners have prioritized retail and amenities, outdoor spaces, connectivity through trails, meeting spaces, fitness and sports options, and employment opportunities.

A Commercial Hub for All

Nexton is set to become a thriving commercial destination, offering a wide range of facilities and services. From retail and culinary experiences to offices, hotels, and medical care, the community aims to cater to all aspects of residents' lives. Efforts are also underway to identify the next restaurant hub.  Marketplace at Nexton will feature a Harris Teeter that should open by the first quarter of 2024.

One Nexton will be a region organized around a retail center set to open in 2024. Anchored by Publix, this region will include eateries, a bank, and apartments. Phase Two will include offices, hospitality, residential and entertainment.

Downtown Nexton: A Vision for the Future

Downtown Nexton is an ambitious 10-year project currently undergoing extensive construction. Covering 100 acres of mixed-use space, this vibrant district will feature hotels, big-box retail stores, small offices, and various types of homes. The development aims to create a dynamic and engaging urban environment that meets the diverse needs of residents and visitors alike.

Nexton's Commitment to Recreation and Education

Nexton understands the importance of recreation and education in fostering a well-rounded community. Dayfield Park, which recently closed on its first speculative space, is set to be fully built out over the next five years. This walkable mixed-use commerce site will include 120,000 square feet of office space, along with 20,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. The zone will also offer fitness facilities and daycare services for children and pets, emphasizing Nexton's commitment to creating a family-friendly environment.

Additionally, the Berkeley County Park, scheduled to open in early 2024, is currently under construction. Covering 20 acres, the park will feature two full-size multi-purpose fields, a playground, a dog park, a pavilion and event lawn, as well as natural access points like a fishing dock and nature trail system.

Nexton is also investing in education, with plans for a new Berkeley County Middle School set to open in the fall of 2025.

Looking Ahead: MUSC Community Hospital and Environmental Preservation

Nexton has its sights set on a bright future, with plans for a MUSC Community Hospital currently in the early planning phase. Scheduled to break ground in 2024, this 40-acre medical facility will feature a 129-bed hospital and medical office, ensuring accessible healthcare for Nexton residents.

Furthermore, Nexton proudly encompasses 1,000 acres of wetlands that will never be developed, emphasizing the community's commitment to environmental preservation and the maintenance of natural habitats.

Nexton's 2023 update showcases a community that continues to grow and evolve while placing a strong emphasis on resident well-being, commercial development, recreational spaces, and educational opportunities. As Nexton strives to offer housing options for all and create an inclusive and thriving environment, it solidifies its position as a premier destination in South Carolina for those seeking a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle.
