Congratulations to John Truluck for being named one of the Top 50 Economic Developers in North America

John Truluck, Dorchester County Economic Development, has been named one of the Top 50 Economic Developers in North America for 2022 by Consultant Connect.

Truluck took the helm at DCED in 2014 and has over 20 years of experience in economic development. Under Truluck's direction, Dorchester County's industry recruitment and expansion efforts have yielded approximately 3,500 jobs and over $800,000,000 in capital investment, according to a statement from the County.

He also spearheaded the creation of Advance Dorchester, a 501(c)3 corporation that allows the County's Economic Development Office to function as a public-private partnership. Aimed at strengthening the County's competitive status within the region, Advance Dorchester generates funds from private sector investors. These funds support four key pillars of successful economic development: marketing, product development, prospect development and workforce development, the County explained.

"I am humbled by this recognition by Consultant Connect," said Truluck. "I am a big believer that economic development is a team sport, and any recognition for me is more of a recognition for our program in Dorchester County and a much bigger team that makes it all work."

Truluck, a lifelong South Carolinian, is a native of Lake City. He resides in Summerville with his family.

Consultant Connect, a consulting agency designed to bridge the gap between economic developers and site consultants, announces its 2022 list of North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers. The economic development professionals selected for this list were nominated by their colleagues in both the economic development industry and the site consultant community for excellent practices, innovation and success in building the communities they serve.

Consultant Connect "has served more than 230 national and international clients since 2013. The concept grew out of the need seen first-hand, by its founder, Kalamazoo, Michigan-based Southwest Michigan First, how economic developers and site selectors can find themselves on opposite sides of the road and how money can be easily spent without results. With its roots in local economic development, this team knows what works – and what doesn’t. Through exclusive, educational networking events and services, Consultant Connect not only gives economic developers an inside look into the world of site selection – it gives them the applicable intelligence necessary to propel their communities forward."
