Joseph M. Still Burn Clinic at Trident Medical Center Expands Service

More than 3,000 Procedures Performed Each Year at the Clinic

On Monday, February 8, 2021 the Joseph M. Still Burn Clinic at Trident Medical Center will expand to two days to better serve the burn care needs of South Carolina patients. Patients can now schedule appointments for Monday and Wednesday each week.


“As Charleston and South Carolina’s Lowcountry region have grown so has the need for quality burn care." said Bounthavy Homsombath, MD, a burn specialist who treats patients at Trident. By expanding the outpatient burn clinic at Trident Medical Center to two days a week we are able to provide more access to care and provide patients more flexibility in scheduling appointments.”


The Joseph M. Still Burn Clinic at Trident Medical Center is affiliated with the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, GA, the nation’s largest provider of burn care. Collectively, it has the most experienced medical staff who specialize in burn care than any other provider in the United States.


“Our goal is simple,” said David Gross, PA, with Burn and Reconstructive Centers of America and who works at the clinic at Trident Medical Center. Center.“ We want to help our patients heal as completely as Burn care is not a simple, short term process. It takes dedication and working hand in hand with the patient to create the best treatment plan.”


This year marks the 13th year Trident Medical Center has provided burn patients outpatient care. The clinic’s director, Tim Buck, MBA, BSN, RN said, “We offer Charleston area residents of all ages access to expert providers for acute burn care, reconstructive care (including laser scar therapy), physical and occupational therapy and other services.” The highly specialized surgeons, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and registered nurses of the Joseph M. Still Burn Clinic at Trident Medical Center all trained to assist patients through the continuum of care from initial burn injury to the return to normal activity.
