“We’re not just building homes—we’re building hope!"

Summerville, SC – Dorchester Habitat for Humanity is thrilled to invite the community to the dedication of its 77th home on Monday, April 21, at 3:00 PM, located on Renau Boulevard in Summerville. This special event will celebrate the completion of a new home for future homeowner, Michael Tibayan, and his family.

Michael’s journey to homeownership is a testament to perseverance, faith, and the power of community. A full-time mechanic technician at Boeing and a passionate graphic designer, Michael has worked tirelessly to build a better life for his partner, Maria, and their two young daughters. Currently living with Maria’s parents and grandfather, the family has long dreamed of having a space of their own—one that provides stability, security, and room for their daughters to grow and thrive.

Like all Habitat homeowners, Michael committed to completing 425 hours of sweat equity by working on the construction site, volunteering in the ReStore, and participating in financial literacy courses. His dedication, positive attitude, and deep love for his family have inspired everyone involved in the project.

“We’re not just building homes—we’re building hope,” said Jaye Jones Elliott, President and CEO at Dorchester Habitat for Humanity. “Michael’s story reminds us why our mission matters. It’s an honor to stand beside him and his family as they open the door to a brighter future.”

The home dedication ceremony will include a short program with words from Dorchester Habitat leadership, community partners, and Michael himself. All are welcome to attend and celebrate this incredible milestone.
