Adoption Events, Free Community Give Back Day, Adoption Party and Fee Waived 

Summerville, SC- 

Dorchester Paws is joining Operation Dog Rescue, this weekend in a tricounty effort to help empty animal shelters in the Low Country who are currently over capacity. Starting tomorrow Saturday April 15th and through Sunday, April 16th, all dogs 7+ months or older will have adoption fees waived this weekend! In addition, each adoption will come with:


  • A free bag of dog food

  • A free health exam waiver to use

  • 30 days of Trupanion Health Insurance

  • 30 days of Telehealth meds (for up to 5 pets in
  •      your home)

  • Free Week Trial of Good Pup Virtual Training

  • An animal that is spayed/neutered, vetted, HW
  •      tested, HW treated IF positive, vaccinated and microchipped

In addition, the below are ADOPTION events scheduled for the weekend including an ADOPTION PARTY being hosted for the longest resident of the shelter who just got adopted.


Saturday, April 15th

Community Pet Day

Davis Bailey Park

5190 E Jim Bilton Blvd, St George, SC 29477

10-12 p.m.

  • The Community Pet Day, made possible by a donation from Tito’s Handmade Vodka, known as the Vodka for Dog People, will provide valuable resources, such as on-site counseling, free pet supplies and over 25,000 pounds of pet food for those in need. The event will also connect residents with various local businesses offering support.
  • The first Community Pet Day took place in January and brought out hundreds of residents, averaging three pets per family. Dorchester Paws anticipates an even greater response for this next event. Although this event will not offer on-site vaccinations and microchips, Dorchester Paws will be collecting contact information of pet owners seeking these services and will connect them to a local animal shelter offering vaccinations and microchips at no cost.


Adoption Celebration!

One in a Melon!

136 Four Paws Lane, Summerville

2 p.m.

  • Melon was with Dorchester Paws for 250 days without any interest and getting overlooked until she wasn't!
  • The public is invited at 2pm for a melon themed adoption party!
  • Free event 
  • Public will be able to participate in her high five tunnel where adopters and Melon will walk through to her forever home. A special send off!
  • Light refreshments will be served!
